Intergrated Patient Care & Research
Integrated Patient Care
Dr Wang believed optimal treatment outcomes can only occur with an integrated care model. First rate surgical, medical and nursing care is provided within St John of God Hospitals, Murdoch and Subiaco. These hospitals are among the largest and best equipped of all private hospitals in Australia. Patient's care following hospital discharge is coordinated by Mr Wang and includes physiotherapy, work rehabilitation providers and your general practitioner. For patients with work cover injuries, the employer and insurer are involved. Integration ofcaregivers and other providers will optimise a patient's rehabilitation following surgery, and return to work and sporting activity.
Research Interests
My current research interests focus on biological therapies to enhance soft tissue healing and optimise outcome after surgery. These treatments include platelet rich plasma, which is obtained from your own blood, and can be injected after surgery to help tendons heal more quickly.
Our research group at the University of Western Australia is based at the Faculty of Medicine and School of Sport Science Exercise and Health.
We have developed and evaluated an innovative cellular therapy: Autologous Tenocyte Implantation which in preclinical and early clinical trials has positive and encouraging benefits in tendon regeneration.
Research work has been presented in National and International Meetings and published in Peer Review Journals. The Autologous Tenocyte Implantation research has been reported in the media.
Research Funding has been awarded by peer review grants and collaboration with Industry including OrthoCell, and Device Technologies. |
